| Since
1994, Mutual Benefits Corporation (MBC) has worked
with more than 20,000 purchasers of life insurance
policy death benefits payable under life insurance
policies having an aggregate face value of over $1
billion. Today, MBC is one of the largest viatical
settlement companies in the United States and we believe
we are licensed in more states than any other company
that funds policies through individual purchasers.
MBC is also an active member of the Viatical and Life
Settlements Association of America.
A
viatical settlement
is simply the sale of life insurance benefits from
a terminally ill insured person to a third party.
In these transactions, the policy seller receives
a percentage of the policy's total face value for
cash. The purchaser of the policy benefits may become
the owner and/or beneficiary, and ultimately collects
the death benefit when the insured dies. Often, this
program is the only solution to financial worries
that accompany the many dilemmas the terminally ill
face.
Senior
citizens are also taking advantage of this option.
The Mutual Benefits
Life Settlement Program offers senior citizens
a chance to sell their life insurance policy to obtain
more than the cash surrender value, if any, offered
by the insurance company to enjoy during their remaining
years. This program was developed for seniors who
believe they no longer need or desire a life insurance
policy. The funds raised from the sale of one life
insurance policy are often used to provide upgraded
medical care, to help pay bills, to enhance the quality
of life if the individual is on a fixed income, to
give cash gifts to family and friends, or to even
fund a cherished dream.
Purchasers
are interested in viatical settlements because they
are humanitarian in nature and provide a real financial
service for people in need. The return on viatical
and life settlements can be up to 72% and is based
on estimated life expectancies of one to six years.
