Senior Market Advisor Magazine (March 2002) asks,
“If life settlements are good enough for Warren
Buffett, shouldn’t they be good enough for everyone
else? Last October, GenRe, the global reinsurance
and risk management arm of Buffett’s Berkshire
Hathaway Inc., arranged a financing facility upwards
of $400 million for...a life settlements funder in
Minnetonka, Minnesota.” The article continues
with:
“Buffett’s
involvement adds an air of credibility to [this] business.
[His] reinsurer has brought consistent financial backing
and a name that will inspire confidence in the life
settlement business, argues Steve Ballard, CEO of
the Norseman Group, a marketing and brokerage company....Berkshire
Hathaway/GenRe adds huge prominence and credibility
to this business. It has generated a ton of business
and has opened the doors that previously weren’t
open to us.”
While
it is a major boon for the life settlement business
to have the backing of such a successful financier
as Warren Buffett, it is important to note that his
company is targeting solely the institutional market.
Mutual Benefits Corporation’s funding is more
diversified; we have institutional, corporate and
individual funders.

from all over the world have attended MBC’s
”Viatical University (VU)“ seminar
and instruction course. Visiting agents receive
a first-class, full scale education on what
viatical and life settlements are, how they
work, how to sell them, why they are a great
alternative to more traditional investments,
why they are unaffected by the day-to-day volatility
of the stock and bond markets, why they are
humanitarian in nature, and so much more. The
VU agents receive luxury accommodations, catered
meals at MBC, a sensational yacht dinner cruise
on the Ft. Lauderdale’s famous Intracoastal
Waterway, and all the marketing materials including
the course manual. |

| Fundación
Dar Amor
This past summer, MBC donated a $5000 check
to the Fundación Dar Amor for Babies
and Children Living with AIDS in Bogota, Colombia.
The Fundación was established in December
1992 as a non-profit organization to help needy
children afflicted with HIV/AIDS in Cali, Colombia.
In December 1994, with the guidance of its founder,
Father Ernesto Andrés Sardi, the program
expanded into Bogota. Often, these children
have been rejected by their families and are
orphans. Currently, the Fundación cares
for 33 children, 18 of which live at the home.
The services offered here include medical care,
ambulatory service, hospitalization, intermediate
care, psychological assistance, and much more.

many educational programs to the public at large through
conferences, workshops, videos, articles and seminars.
To keep their doors open, the Fundación relies
on donations by private and community organizations
and fundraisers.

dollars to fight breast cancer. Last year, 325,000
walkers across the country collected more than $26
million. Making Strides pledges are dedicated to life-saving

Mutual
Benefits Corporation is one of the largest viatical
and life settlement providers in the country and is
licensed in more states than any other viatical company
that funds policies through individual purchasers.
MBC was incorporated in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in
1994 and has worked closely with more than 26,000
purchasers of life insurance policies. Viatical and
life settlements funded through Mutual Benefits Corporation
are non-stock products and offer fixed, total returns
of 12%, 21%, 28%, 42%, and up to 72%. Purchasers (or
their assignees) become direct beneficiaries on the
policies and receive principal plus a fixed return
when the policy matures. MBC has funded the sale of
life insurance policies from America's top-rated insurance
companies rated B+ or better by A.M. Best. MBC settlements
may be eligible for IRAs, SEPs, and other pension
plans. MBC is an active member of the Viatical and
Life Settlement Association of America and has helped
thousands of terminally ill and senior citizens by
offering a program that provides a practical solution
for financial hardship.
